Former Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has garnered attention throughout the 2024 T20 World Cup with his bold opinions, and he has ended the tournament with another strong stance. Praising Virat Kohli for his exceptional performance in the T20 World Cup Final against South Africa, Shehzad emphasized that Kohli’s talent is unparalleled and should not be compared to anyone, including Pakistan’s Babar Azam.
Reflecting on past comparisons between himself and Kohli, Shehzad, now 32, acknowledged Kohli’s exceptional career and legacy, which also sets him apart from Babar Azam. Shehzad was critical of Babar’s batting and captaincy during the tournament.
“While comparisons based on appearance may be common, the truth is that Virat Kohli has achieved unparalleled success in his career,” Shehzad stated on Bol India News. “No one can match his achievements, not even me or anyone else. Comparisons with Babar Azam also fall short.”
Following Kohli’s retirement from T20Is after a match-winning innings in the final, Shehzad expressed his belief that filling Kohli’s shoes in the Indian cricket team would be a daunting task.
“Virat Kohli is leaving a remarkable legacy for India and world cricket,” Shehzad remarked. “The Indian team will face a challenge in finding a worthy successor to him.”
Despite initially struggling in the final, with South Africa needing 30 runs from 30 balls, India secured victory by 7 runs through a stellar bowling effort from Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya, clinching Kohli’s first T20 World Cup title.
