In a strange incident during the one-off Test between Ireland and Zimbabwe, a batter scored 5 runs by running between the wickets. This happened on Day 4 of the match, with Ireland at 74/5, chasing a target of 185 runs. Andy McBrine hit a drive off pacer Richard Ngarava, and the ball almost went for a boundary before being saved by Tendai Chatara from touching the rope.
Chatara’s momentum took him beyond the boundary, delaying the return of the ball. This allowed McBrine and Lorcan Tucker to complete 5 runs through quick running between the wickets.
McBrine and Tucker went on to add 96 runs for the sixth wicket, with Mark Adair finishing the match with a winning boundary as Ireland won with more than a day to spare. McBrine was named player of the match for his exceptional performance.
“McBrine is a skillful player and truly deserved the award today,” said Ireland captain Andy Balbirnie.
