Suryakumar Yadav, the newly-appointed T20I captain, emphasized that India will maintain the aggressive style of cricket introduced by his predecessor, Rohit Sharma. Despite the change in leadership, the team’s approach remains consistent. “The same train will go ahead; only the engine has changed and the bogies remain unchanged,” Suryakumar expressed before the first T20I against Sri Lanka.
Suryakumar acknowledged the leadership qualities of Rohit, stating, “What I have learnt from Rohit is that he was always a leader on the ground and off it.” He aims to follow the path laid out by Rohit during his captaincy.
Regarding the role of Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar mentioned, “Hardik’s role has always been the same. He is a very important player for the team.” He expressed confidence in the young players like Riyan Parag and Rinku Singh to perform well in the series.
Reflecting on his personal growth, Suryakumar stated, “I am also a completely changed man now,” highlighting the impact of his experiences over the past decade.
Suryakumar also discussed the bond with Gautam Gambhir and their potential collaboration to fulfill their shared goals.
