Following a series where India had to deal with injuries, player unavailability, workload management, and transitions resulting in five debuts – their joint-highest since their first series – India’s coach commended the selectors for pushing the team management to try out new options.

Despite missing key players like Mohammed Shami, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammed Siraj at various points, India emerged as 4-1 victors after losing the first Test. During the broadcast, the commentators were praising Dravid and the support staff, but he made a special mention of the selectors.

“I’d like to give a big shoutout to Ajit [Agarkar, chairman of selectors] and his team as well,” Dravid expressed. “They have challenged us to select young players who have performed exceptionally well. It’s not an easy job being a selector, but they have picked the right players who have delivered on the field.”

One of the successful selections was wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel, who had minimal first-class experience but excelled in his second Test, earning him the Player-of-the-Match award and filling the void left by Pant’s absence.
With a significant number of newcomers in the team, India relied on young players like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Kuldeep Yadav, who put in impressive performances throughout the series. Jaiswal was awarded the Player-of-the-Series for his exceptional batting, while Kuldeep reached 50 Test wickets at a remarkable pace.

Rohit Sharma praised the young talents, particularly highlighting Kuldeep’s potential as a match-winner and Jaiswal’s aggressive approach towards batting. He acknowledged their hard work and determination to succeed at the international level.

Reflecting on Jaiswal’s performances, Rohit emphasized the youngster’s talent and aggressive mindset, expressing confidence in his ability to succeed in the future despite facing challenges along the way.
