Pakistan is set to have a packed red-ball international home season in 2024-25, with seven Tests scheduled to be hosted. Teams like Bangladesh, England, and West Indies will participate in Test series in Pakistan between August of this year and January 2025.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the dates and schedule for the upcoming home season, which includes hosting the Champions Trophy. A draft schedule for the Champions Trophy has been released, with the tournament expected to take place from February 19 to March 9 next year.
The home season will kick off with Bangladesh playing two Tests in Rawalpindi and Karachi from August 21 to September 3. This is unusual as Pakistan typically does not host home internationals in August due to high temperatures and humidity. Only two Tests have been played at home in August in Pakistan’s history, both against Bangladesh in 2003.
Following the Bangladesh series, England will arrive to play three Tests in Multan, Karachi, and Rawalpindi from October 7-28. Pakistan will then embark on limited-overs tours of Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.
The West Indies will also play Tests in Karachi and Multan from January 16-28 as part of the World Test Championship. After the series against the West Indies, Pakistan will host an ODI tri-series involving South Africa and New Zealand from February 8-14 in Multan.
The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is undergoing redevelopment, meaning it will not host any matches until the Champions Trophy. The PCB is confident that the stadium will be ready for the tournament, which will be the first ICC event Pakistan has hosted in 29 years. However, it remains to be seen if India will participate in the Champions Trophy, as they have not traveled to Pakistan since international cricket resumed in 2015.
Overall, Pakistan’s home season in 2024-25 will be a busy and exciting period for cricket fans, with a lineup of high-profile Test series, limited-overs matches, and the highly anticipated Champions Trophy.
