The PCB is upgrading its venues ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy, with the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore also undergoing renovations prior to Pakistan’s first ICC tournament since 1996.
ESPNcricinfo has learned that the PCB decided to keep the Test in Karachi in order to spread their home matches across three venues in Karachi, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
The England Test scheduled in Karachi on October 15 remains unchanged, with plans to have spectators in attendance.
Due to concerns for fan safety, the PCB has suspended ticket sales for the first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Karachi, opting to hold the match behind closed doors.
The Bangladesh team arrived in Lahore earlier than planned to train at Gaddafi Stadium before heading to Rawalpindi for the first Test on August 21.
Following an invitation from the PCB, the BCB agreed to the early arrival to ensure the Bangladesh players had sufficient training ahead of the Tests.
Bangladesh’s last bilateral tour of Pakistan was in 2020, but it was cut short due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
