Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim have been included in the Pakistan squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. This will be their first inclusion in the squad since 2020 and 2023 respectively.
Usman Khan, who recently switched allegiances from the UAE to Pakistan, has also been named in the squad. Fakhar Zaman, despite a tough time in the PSL, has been retained. The squad also includes players like Azam Khan, Shadab Khan, and Abrar Ahmed, who performed well in the recently concluded PSL.
In a statement, Usman expressed his excitement about the opportunity to represent his country and vowed to give his best. The squad will be led by Babar Azam, who has returned as the captain of Pakistan’s white-ball side.
The inclusion of Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir was a straightforward decision, according to selector Wahab Riaz, considering their availability and the team’s current needs. The series against New Zealand will also see changes in the backroom staff, with Azhar Mahmood appointed as head coach.
The Pakistan squad will face New Zealand in a series of five T20Is starting from April 18. The squad includes players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Naseem Shah among others.
