India’s star player, Jasprit Bumrah, found himself in an amusing situation after India secured a spot in the T20 World Cup 2024 final by defeating England in the semi-finals. In a video circulating on social media, Bumrah can be seen attempting to shake hands with the umpire, only to be left waiting for an extended period. The umpire inadvertently overlooked Bumrah’s hand, shaking hands with other players instead. Bumrah appeared puzzled as he waited for the handshake.
Given Bumrah’s exceptional performances in the T20 World Cup, many have hailed him as the ‘best player in the team’. The video has created a buzz on social media, entertaining fans worldwide.

In the match, England, led by Jos Buttler, won the toss and opted to bowl first against Rohit Sharma’s India.
Rohit Sharma (57 runs from 39 balls, 6 fours and 2 sixes) and Suryakumar Yadav (47 runs from 36 balls, 4 fours and 2 sixes) propelled India to 171/7. Hardik Pandya (23 runs from 13 balls, 1 four and 2 sixes) and Ravindra Jadeja (17* runs from 9 balls, 2 fours) also contributed to the first innings.
Chris Jordan led England’s bowling attack with three wickets, conceding 37 runs in his three-over spell.
During the chase, England struggled to adapt to the pitch conditions, managing only 103 runs in 16.4 overs. Harry Brook (25 runs from 19 balls, 3 fours) and Jos Buttler (23 runs from 15 balls, 4 fours) were the top scorers for England.
Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav spearheaded India’s bowling, each grabbing three wickets and securing a 68-run victory over England. Jasprit Bumrah also claimed two wickets while defending the target of 172 runs.
The stage is now set for the T20 World Cup final, as the unbeaten teams, India and South Africa, will face off in Barbados on Saturday.
