The Indian deaf cricket team is set to compete against England in their first-ever bilateral T20 series starting on June 18. The series will include seven matches beginning at The County Ground, Derby, and moving on to Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, and Leicestershire, with the final game scheduled for June 27. Rajesh Aggrawal, IAS, Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, expressed his excitement, stating: “I am thrilled to support the Indian Deaf cricket team as they embark on their first-ever Bilateral T20 Deaf Series against England.”
“This groundbreaking event not only showcases the exceptional talent of our athletes but also emphasizes the importance of inclusivity in sports.” A 15-man squad has been selected by the all-India men’s selection committee for the series, with Virender Singh appointed as the captain. The team is currently undergoing training in New Delhi and is scheduled to depart for England on June 15.
The series is being organized by the Disability Committee of England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the governing body of the sport in the country.
