Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson are among the few players from India’s T20 World Cup squad who will be accompanying the team to Zimbabwe. The rest of the players have been given a well-deserved break after the tournament concludes on June 29.
Rinku Singh, Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed, who were reserves in India’s T20 World Cup squad along with Gill, have also been included in the squad for Zimbabwe. The team is expected to depart for Zimbabwe on July 1, with VVS Laxman serving as the interim coach after Rahul Dravid’s tenure ends with the T20 World Cup.
Nitish Reddy, a young seam-bowling allrounder, impressed the selectors with his performance in Sunrisers Hyderabad. He scored 303 runs at a strike rate of 142.92 and also took three wickets in IPL 2024. Reddy, along with Abhishek and Parag, was part of the BCCI’s focus on nurturing young talent through the NCA.
Tushar Deshpande was the leading wicket-taker for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024, with 17 wickets and an economy rate of 8.83.
