The excitement following the thrilling India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match in New York has barely subsided, and news of the two teams’ potential clash at the 2025 Champions Trophy has already surfaced. India and Pakistan, widely regarded as the most popular teams in international cricket, are set to face each other at the 2025 Champions Trophy in Lahore. The proposed dates for the 50-over tournament have been submitted to the International Cricket Council, with the event scheduled to take place between February 19 and March 09.
According to Cricbuzz, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finalized its draft schedule and forwarded it to the ICC for approval. The schedule includes a match between India and Pakistan in Lahore. However, India’s participation in the match is contingent on receiving approval from the Indian government.
The PCB has proposed Karachi and Rawalpindi as potential venues for the 20-day tournament, with Lahore designated as the sole center for India’s matches. The tournament is expected to feature seven matches in Lahore, five in Rawalpindi, and three in Karachi.
The tournament will kick off on February 19 in Karachi, with the semifinals scheduled to take place in Karachi and Rawalpindi. The final of the 2025 Champions Trophy is slated for March 9 in Lahore, with a potential semifinal involving India also set to be held in Lahore.
Despite the PCB’s efforts to host the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to approve the proposed venues. Given the strained relations between the two countries, it seems unlikely that the Indian board will receive permission to travel to Pakistan, at least in the current scenario.
