According to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), India is set to host the Men’s Asia Cup cricket tournament in the T20 format in 2025, leading up to the T20 World Cup in 2026.
Since 2016, the Asia Cup has been played in the T20 format as a preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
The 2023 edition of the Asia Cup was held in a ‘Hybrid Model’ by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as India opted to play their matches in Sri Lanka due to political tensions.
The 2027 Asia Cup will be played in the ODI format in Bangladesh to align with the 50-over World Cup scheduled in South Africa the same year.
The 2027 T20 Asia Cup in India and the 50-over event in Bangladesh will consist of 13 matches each, totaling 26 matches in the tournament period.
The ACC defines the ‘Men’s Asia Cup Tournament’ as a biennial senior men’s cricket competition involving various ACC Members, including Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and one Non Test playing Member selected through qualifying events.
