India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, is determined to pursue a winning strategy in every match leading up to the Women’s Asia Cup game against long-time rivals Pakistan. The team is set to kick off their campaign against Pakistan in Dambulla on July 19. Following a successful 3-0 victory over South Africa in the home ODI series, as well as a dominant 10-wicket win in a one-off Test match and a drawn T20I series, Harmanpreet emphasized the importance of focusing on their own performance rather than external pressures.
“When facing Pakistan, there is a unique intensity between both nations. As players, we feel the pressure, but as a captain, it’s my responsibility to lift the team’s spirits and approach the game as any other match. Our goal is to perform well and secure victories without being distracted by external factors,” Harmanpreet stated in an interview with Star Sports.
Young batter Jemimah Rodrigues echoed Harmanpreet’s sentiments, highlighting the team’s positive atmosphere and collective ambition to win every game in the tournament.
“Our enthusiasm is high, and we are all focused on the common goal of winning every match. The support from fans further motivates us to succeed on the field,” Rodrigues expressed.
All-rounder Deepti Sharma expressed her excitement for the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 and emphasized the team’s commitment to performing well collectively.
