Indian cricket team all-rounder Hardik Pandya had a rollercoaster year in 2024. Despite a disappointing IPL season with Mumbai Indians where he faced boos from the crowd, he made a remarkable comeback in the T20 World Cup, delivering outstanding performances with both bat and ball to help India secure the title. The team is set to celebrate their victory with a felicitation ceremony at Wankhede Stadium, where chants of Hardik’s name signify a stark contrast to the mood during the IPL.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a memorable meeting with the T20 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team, discussing their journey in the recent ICC event in USA and the Caribbean. The team, led by Rohit Sharma, arrived in Delhi after weathering a category 4 hurricane in Barbados.
“An excellent meeting with our Champions! Hosted the World Cup winning team at 7, LKM and had a memorable conversation on their experiences through the tournament,” Modi shared on social media along with pictures.
The players, wearing custom jerseys with ‘CHAMPIONS’ emblazoned on them, enjoyed a breakfast at the PM’s residence, engaging in a lively conversation with Modi. Captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid were seated beside the PM, exchanging smiles and posing for photos.
During the event, BCCI officials presented Modi with a personalized Team India jersey featuring ‘NAMO’ and ‘1’ as a token of appreciation.
