The Kolkata Knight Riders have shown improvement over the past two seasons. Following a solid performance in IPL 2023, where KKR performed well despite missing key players, they went on to win the IPL 2024 by defeating SunRisers Hyderabad in the final. Chandrakant Pandit played a significant role in KKR’s third IPL title victory. Pandit, known for his success as a coach at the domestic level, has brought success to KKR since taking over as coach in 2022.
Former KKR player David Wiese shared an interesting perspective on Pandit ahead of IPL 2024. According to Wiese, there were issues within the team, with players feeling unhappy about certain aspects. The changing room environment was challenging, especially with a new coach who had a specific approach that didn’t sit well with all players. Some of the KKR stars were reportedly frustrated under Chandrakant Pandit’s coaching style.
In contrast, England opener Philip Salt had a positive experience playing under Chandrakant Pandit during IPL 2024. Salt praised Pandit for his coaching skills and highlighted their strong relationship. Salt performed well for KKR, scoring 435 runs in 12 matches with an impressive average and strike rate.
Despite Salt being recalled by England before the IPL concluded, KKR successfully clinched the title by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. Salt expressed disappointment at leaving the team mid-season but acknowledged the team’s deserving victory.
Even without Salt, KKR emerged as IPL champions, showcasing their strength and determination on their path to success.
