Singer Chahat Fateh Ali Khan, known for his viral song ‘Bado Badi’, expressed his desire to become the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board to lead the team in the right direction. Chahat suggested that the current PCB chief, Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as the Interior Minister, should step down from his role as chairman to make way for him, citing Naqvi’s other significant responsibilities. This statement from Khan followed Pakistan’s exit from the T20 World Cup under Babar Azam’s captaincy.
“I am prepared to take charge of PCB and the cricket team to ensure they perform at their best. If given the opportunity, I will personally oversee player performances and training sessions four days a week, focusing on discipline and eliminating any external interference,” Khan shared with Geo News.
“My suggestion for Naqvi is in no way a criticism; it’s simply a plea for him to consider my offer. With his significant responsibilities as the Interior Minister, I believe he should pass on the PCB chairmanship to me. This is not disrespect towards Mohsin Naqvi, but rather a call for change,” he added.
Pakistan’s performance in the T20 World Cup was lackluster, with Babar Azam’s unbeaten 32 salvaging a 3-wicket win over Ireland in their final match. The team faced defeats against the USA in a Super Over and a failed chase against India earlier in the tournament.
In the match against Ireland, Shaheen Afridi and Imad Wasim shined with three wickets each, restricting Ireland to 106 for 9. Mohammad Amir and Haris Rauf also contributed with the ball. Both Pakistan and Ireland were already eliminated from the competition.
