BCCI’s updated schedule for India’s home season retains original plan

The BCCI has recently made alterations to India’s home season schedule. The first T20I against Bangladesh, originally slated for October 6 in Dharamsala, has been shifted to Gwalior. Additionally, the venues for the first and second T20Is against England in January 2025 have been swapped, with Kolkata now hosting the first match and Chennai the second.

The decision to move the first T20I venue from Dharamsala to Gwalior was prompted by ongoing upgrades and renovations at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association’s dressing rooms, as stated by the BCCI. This marks the second instance in the past two years where an international fixture had to be relocated from Dharamsala. In February 2023, the third Test between India and Australia was moved to Indore due to the unprepared outfield in Dharamsala.

Regarding England’s tour in 2025, the original plan had Chennai hosting the first T20I on January 22 and Kolkata the second on January 25. However, due to prior commitments and obligations of Kolkata Police for Republic Day, the venues have been switched. The BCCI clarified that this change was made in response to a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal.

India’s upcoming home international season in 2024-25 kicks off with a series against Bangladesh, featuring two Tests and three T20Is from September 19 to October 12. Following this, New Zealand is scheduled to visit for three Test matches from October 16 to November 5.

Afterwards, India will embark on a tour to Australia for five Test matches spanning from November 22 to January 7. Upon their return, the team will host England for five T20Is and three ODIs from January 22 to February 12. These ODIs against England will be India’s only 50-over matches before the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan.

Revised Schedule for Bangladesh’s Tour of India

  • Sept 19 to 23 – 1st Test, Chennai
  • Sept 27 to Oct 1 – 2nd Test, Kanpur
  • Oct 6 – 1st T20I, Gwalior
  • Oct 9 – 2nd T20I, Delhi
  • Oct 12 – 3rd T20I, Hyderabad

Revised Schedule for England’s Tour of India

  • Jan 22 – 1st T20I, Kolkata
  • Jan 25 – 2nd T20I, Chennai
  • Jan 28 – 3rd T20I, Rajkot
  • Jan 31 – 4th T20I, Pune
  • Feb 2 – 5th T20I, Mumbai
  • Feb 6 – 1st ODI, Nagpur
  • Feb 9 – 2nd ODI, Cuttack
  • Feb 12 – 3rd ODI, Ahmedabad
