The early departure was at the invitation of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to provide adequate training opportunities for the visiting players before the Tests.
PCB’s Chief Operating Officer, Salman Naseer, emphasized the importance of teamwork in sports and expressed confidence that the additional training in Lahore will enable the Bangladesh players to showcase their skills effectively.
The Bangladesh players have been undergoing individual training under coach Shohel Islam at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in preparation for the upcoming series.
BCB’s Chief Executive, Nizamuddin Chowdhury, expressed gratitude to PCB for the opportunity of additional training in Pakistan, which will help the players adapt to the conditions and perform better in the ICC World Test Championship series.
Bangladesh’s Test cricketers faced disruptions during their training camp in Chattogram due to widespread protests in the country. Political rallies even affected activities at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.
Despite the challenges, BCB managed to send the high-performance team to Australia and the Bangladesh A team to Pakistan for a series of matches. The Bangladesh A team arrived in Islamabad and will play matches alongside the senior team’s Tests in Rawalpindi and Karachi. The squad for the Tests is set to be announced soon.
