Arshdeep Singh set two records in India’s T20 World Cup 2024 game against USA. The left-arm seamer now holds the record for the best bowling figures in a T20 World Cup game by an Indian, finishing with figures of 4-0-9-4. He surpassed Ravichandran Ashwin’s previous best of 4-11 in 3.2 overs against Australia in the 2014 edition. Arshdeep became the first Indian bowler to take four wickets in a T20 World Cup game while giving away less than 10 runs. He also became the first Indian bowler to pick up a wicket on the very first ball of a T20 World Cup match, dismissing USA batsman Shayan Jahangir.
Arshdeep Singh continued his impressive performance, achieving career-best figures of 4/9 as India restricted co-hosts United States of America to 110 for 8 in a Group ‘A’ encounter of the T20 World Cup. The USA batters had a tough time facing the Indian pace attack, with Arshdeep leading the charge.
Despite some contributions from Nitish Kumar, Steven Taylor, and Corey Anderson, the USA team struggled to build a competitive total. Once Arshdeep took crucial wickets early in the innings, there was no turning back for India.
India maintained their intensity throughout the match, mixing up their delivery lengths effectively. With inputs from PTI.
