Jamal joined Warwickshire in April after being left out of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad, making him available to play. He made his debut against Nottinghamshire shortly after arriving in the UK.
However, Jamal only managed one wicket in his first two County Championship matches, with coach Mark Robinson noting his lack of rhythm and pace. A back issue then kept him out of further Championship games.
Although Jamal was also part of the Blast squad, injuries restricted him to just one appearance where he struggled, both with the ball and bat. Warwickshire’s director of cricket, Gavin Larsen, expressed disappointment at not being able to showcase Jamal’s abilities to the fans.
Despite facing a shortage of seam-bowling options this season, Warwickshire has excelled in the Blast but struggled in Division One of the Championship. The team has recently announced the signing of Ethan Bamber from Middlesex for next summer.
Larsen expressed excitement about Bamber joining Warwickshire, while Middlesex’s Alan Coleman mentioned his disappointment at losing the talented seamer.
